During one of his previous interviews, he admittedly said, “In the old days, I would take three months out, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a six-pack or whatever and just go back to my old habits.”

After realizing how unhealthy his lifestyle before and how alcohol eventually damaged his life, he decided to get rid of it for good.  “It was the answer to a lot of problems. I hit it hard for 30 years,” Goodman told in an interview. “There’s a lot of residual damage and I’m just trying to pick up the pieces now.”

Now, he disciplines himself by incorporating protein shakes, lean protein, fruits, and vegetables in his sustenance. He also pushed himself to be physically active by doing low-impact exercises since he has arthritis in his knees. By working out six days a week, the actor keeps himself active by doing cardio and boxing workout, which worked well in achieving his weight loss.

John Goodman weight loss was not easy. It pushed him to have a motivation by keeping in mind that he wanted to live longer and it’s not just about losing weight but changing his bad, old habits that brought him in a threatening life.

His weight loss is an ongoing process for him even though he was known for his chubby and funny acting roles.

For the new season, Dan (John Goodman’s character) was back along with the most of the original cast. John Goodman excitedly shared about being so eager to play the role of Dan Conner again that he admits he does not care about how the show will bring his fictional character back to life again.  “I don’t care. I didn’t care. It was irrelevant. It was just silly,” he said in an interview.

His dead character in Roseanne happened after he began to show resentment in the show after feeling the urge to give in in alcohol addiction due to his stressful expectations in performing on a high level.

Also, it is the same addictive personality that manifested in his different works while yearning for an instant gratification, especiallyw hen it comes to acting.

In one of his interview, he confessed about his turning point that it was when he misses a rehearsal because he was out drinking, until it cam to a point that his wife admitted him in a treatment facility and has been sober ever since in 2007.

Now, the 67 year old actor, has a net worth of $65 million. He still an award-winning television, theatre, and film actor with a career that is successfully spanning for four decades. He is best known for his character in Roseanne show and in various films by the Coen brother. He is still doing theatre work at several theatres, including Studio 54 and Roundabout Theatre Company. Most recently he starred in American Buffalo at the Wyndham’s Theatre.

John Goodman continues to prove his versatility in acting and has no signs of slowing down.
